I have two dongle systems and one software activate system. I have support on all 3 systems and am now finally at a point to upgrade to 7.04 and 8.2. According to Avid License Control on my SNDX system it says Product Information Avid Media Composer 6.5 then on the next line it says Version: 8.0.
I blasted the dongle to V 8 a while back so I figure that's what the dongle will run. Do I need another updater file to run 8.2? I looked on my products page and didn't see the availability of a new updater file so I'm assuming I don't. I am still a little curious about the mac Ver. 8.2 patch which has to be installed on top of the 8.1 installation. Judging by size Ver. 8 and 8.1 seem to be full installers with the 8.2 patch being about a third of the size. Is Avid changing the patch structure on macs to be more like the pc side?
I will be doing a job on a system that is 7.0.4 media composer. I don't know yet if the system is dongle or software activation based. I would assume that if I bring my symphony / media composer with symphony option dongle I could access the symphony color corrector on the client's system if they don't already have the symphony option. I'm curious how the activation/deactivation of a system running on a software license and switching it to a dongle temporarily happens. On my dongle SNDX Ver 6.5 the state of all products in the Avid License Control is Not Activated which makes sense given I have a dongle. If I go to the client system and find it software activated can I just deactivate the software license and then stick my dongle in and have it ask me how I want to activate avid when I boot? Also given my dongle has the symphony option will media composer 7.0.4 automatically recognize that?
