SENIOR TECHNICAL ENGINEER
TECHNICAL OPERATIONS, WEST COAST, NICKELODEON
Reports To:
Sr. Director of Technical Operations, West Coast
Description:
Supports all Nickelodeon West Coast Technical Operations, Avid Edit Systems, Pro Tools Systems, Animatic Systems, and Machine Room Systems for Nickelodeon Group LA based Productions. Collaborate in these areas with Nickelodeon Group internal lines of business, external partners and vendors, engineering, Viacom production applications and development group, and Nickelodeon New York based teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
• Take in incoming phone support calls for all West Coast, and work with Senior Manager to
determine best course of action.
• Provide phone and on-site technical support to Animation and Live-Action West Coast based
long-form / short-form productions.
• Coordinate all pick up & deliveries for Live-Action Avid Editorial.
• Coordinate all on-site communications and scheduling.
• Log all support tickets into EVERNOTE for tracking and analyzing.
• Assist in all system design drawings, documentation, integration, and wiring for all Broadcast
Audio & Video Editorial & Encoding Systems including, Avid, Pro Tools, Animatic, and Machine
Room Systems.
• Help to create technical protocols, user guides, and support documentation for all systems.
• Assist in all research, design, and maintain standards to ensure all systems meet specifications.
• Assist in research of new hardware & software, including beta testing.
• Ensure all systems are upgraded to current versions of hardware and software to meet
production requirements (audio, video & CPU's).
• Report to Senior Management on the status of individual projects.
• Help with routine service & maintenance of all systems.
• Contact vendors for quotes, and create shopping carts in the Market, for all purchase order
submissions.
• Manage routine service & maintenance.
o Plan routine diagnostics and maintenance.
o Plan routine maintenance on servers, including restarts.
o Diagnose and determine repair solutions for systems.
o Maintain Nickelodeon West Coast Hardware and Software Inventory databases.
o Maintain service documentation for all systems.
Communication:
• Receive all incoming phone support calls and coordinate on-site service & support.
• Provide regular status updates to senior management.
• Communicate with all post, editors, and assistants as needed.
• Regularly meet with Technical Operations team to ensure uniformity.

Required Qualifications / Skills:
• AA Degree in electronics or equivalent experience (technical schools).
• Avid Certified ACSR (Media Composer Mac)
• Knowledge in the operations of atr / vtr machines.
• Knowledge in the procedures of audio, video and computer routing in a Production environment.
• Live-Action & Animation production experience: all facets of production a plus.
• Strong Technical trouble shooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Ability to perform well under pressure.
• Ability to manage a large number of tasks concurrently.
• Ability to prioritize effectively.
• Team Player, flexible and collaborative.
• Articulate and dead-line oriented.
• 5 year + in Avid broadcast technical support.
• Operating system experience:
o Microsoft Window 2000, XPSP/2
o Unix
o Macintosh OS 10.x and later
• Understanding with software applications:
o Maya
o Photoshop
o Illustrator
o After Effects
o Flash
• Advanced abilities with software applications:
o Microsoft Window 2000, XPSP/2
o Unix
o Macintosh OS 10.x and later
