Re: [Avid-L2] Most popular editing software

In spite of the language difficulties, I think Dario is mostly right. For one thing, I think it's a mistake to ascribe NLE choice to something as banal as generational rebellion. For a lot of younger people, the choice to learn a given NLE is aspirational. By this I mean that, if I dreamed of working on national TV shows and movies, I'm more likely to want to know what the big boys are using, and then I would make damned sure I learned it, too. The people who want to work in that arena and actually make it there are usually smart enough to understand this.

Blind youthful rebellion won't get you very far if you go to the "Better Call Saul" producers with that attitude. The conversation is not likely to go like this: "Hey, look at my reel!", and they look at your reel and say, "Hey, kid, that's pretty good! Come for work for us!," and you say, "Okay, I cut on FCPX!", and the producers say, "Sure, our workflow is built around Avid, but we'll trash all that just so we can hire you!" Yeah, not so much.

In other words, nobody watches 'Temple of Doom' because they dream about being Short Round. They watch 'Temple of Doom' because they dream about being Indiana Jones. And this isn't a value judgement. A post professional can work in any area that suits them, from studio features to local spots to industrials to wedding videos. It doesn't matter. But certain sectors of certain sectors of the industry often revolve around certain industry standards of technology and workflow integration. Smarter young people will ask the right questions in order to get where they want to go. This might lead them to Avid or it might lead them to FCPX.

It's not about actively choosing the opposite of what their nerdy parents are using. Because, really, they just don't care.

what's the point of your discussion?
what are you going to say from a @mac.com, that MC is better?
Of course not, probably you will get fired.
So, this is your plan of sell FCPX in an Avid forum? We are not natives buying colored mirrors.

I hate fanaticism.
I don't work for AVID and I'm not a fanatic. I pay for my MC w/symphony after using a lot of other tools. And in my experience MC tech me the weight of a frame.

My 23 years old girlfriend used FCPX too (and she is a mac fan), and then used MC, and now she's cutting on Avid. The only negative point she gave is the learning curve.

But your pov its a kids argument. Use this because its a new toy and goes againts the olders. are you a fanatic relegious hipster or something?

Dario (sorry for my poor english, it's worse when I get mad by kids)
