[Avid-L2] preunistall error/ install failed SOLVED

anyone getting this?  this plagued me for many build installs... i've figur out the issue with this and thought to finally post it.

i prefer to hide as many of the os stuff i can and use ONYX on mac to reduce the DOCK to only LOADED APPLICATIONS.  after many betas and upgrades over the past 3 cycles, i've found that my problem was that the avid installer needs to add or remove the MC icon from the dock.   if the dock is set to not show inactive apps, their installer will fail giving you this uninformed error.  this seems a really dumb way for an installer/unistaller to fail.

if you call support you'll be instructed to MANUALLY uninstall with a bunch of terminal stuff (which will not fix the install/uninstall issue.)

the solution is to install or start ONYX go to PARAMETERS/DOCK and chose RESTORE THE DOCK from the bottom.

after this simple thing the avid installer or uninstaller will behave and do its thing by a flashing grey desktop, install or uninstall to your hearts content.
believe me this made me crazy for a while...
