It very well might be -- but that is no reason to not customize the setting to address your goals (much like Avid has their list of BIOS modifications in order to optimize the application's performance).
Frankly, in my world, the only reason to enable that setting (as well as USB boot) is if I need to boot the computer using an alternate OS.
These days, very few device firmwares or BIOS updates require using a flash drive. I haven't done it for years.
My recommendation: Disable and Test. I think it's going to solve your problem.
