I think that Marquee is even more picky but looking at the old Title Tool here (on a Mac), a whole bunch of OTF fonts do not appear, either. I imagine that OTF might have been developed after these venerable tools. I just had a look at the NewBlue titler plugin (that comes with v7) and that does see OTF (even though they display in the font list with a 'TT' next to them).
