No need for Compressor. Do a video mixdown as you said, then organize your audio tracks on your timeline in the order you want them to appear in the resulting QT. Then export a QT Ref file. Open the QT Ref file in QuickTime Pro and do a Save As Self Contained Movie.

I know how to do an XDCAM MXF file with 8 tracks but at a loss on how to do 16 tracks out of the avid. only way I have thought is to do a video mix down and then run it through compressor.
Any thoughts?
