Re: [Avid-L2] F55 metadata

Solution found:

The Sony RAW viewer is a freeware app that can show all the F55 metadata I'm looking for.  Installation includes the command-line utility rawexporter which can output metadata text that I need (and a ton more besides.)

I'm looking for a way to get the shutter metadata into my Avid bin.  So if I shell out the $200 for Sony's advanced pack, as far as I can tell, that only gets me the ability to read the data in their app, and physcially copy it clip by clip into my bin.  That's very tedious and error-prone, and just not practical for 1000's of clips.  Whereas if I can get a text string out of the files, I can automate it into an ALE friendly form.  Faster and more accurate is the goal.

You're right -- I don't care about the metadata for each frame.  In fact, for now, all I care about is the value on the first frame.

well, if it's indeed frame by frame, are you sure you want a string with metadata FOR EACH FRAME?
(that's a bunch of reading...)
You would like a parser that gives you the first line, then only the changes.
But if you're after this kind of stuff, and it's easier to work with the metadata than just trust your eyes, i would think you are able to shell out 200 bucks...

Subject: Re: [Avid-L2] F55 metadata

So it looks like the $200 "advanced pack" that Sony sells as an add-on for their free "Content Browser" app is able to display shutter info and other lens metadata which doesn't show up in their XML file (or in the Avid bin via AMA.)

Sony says:
" The latest major XDCAM camcorders have ability to store camera (lens) related metadata into SxS or Professional Disc in real-time (frame-by-frame)"

I believe the realtime metadata is stored in the .BIM sidecar file, which is not human readable.  Does anyone know of any other tools that might be able to extract shutter info as a text string?

Thanks,

I find I'm not getting all the metadata I'd like when AMA importing F55
XAVC 4K clips in Avid MC.7.0.4

In particular I'd like to get the capture-frame-rate and shutter
information. I'm not too hopeful about the shutter, since this doesn't
even show up in Sony's Content Browser, but they do show "Capture Frame
Rate", which also shows up in the .xml sidecar file as "captureFPS".

Is this something that should be showing up in avid bins via AMA, or is
there a way to get it in from the sidecar info?

Thanks,
