Re: [Avid-L2] Proper Monitor distance range for fixed length Eyeglass Lens?

Back in the day the general thinking was 4-6x picture height was an appropriate viewing distance. This figure was used to calculate the ADO persepctive default values to correspond to a 50mm lens that distance from the monitor...

All my suites have the monitors my arms length away because of um pushing buttons...

Speaking of monitor height though my favorite cmx room that i ever build had the cmx vdu dropped into a recess in the desk at 35 degrees reclined with the program monitor directly above it level with my eyeline. I loved that room - and never had a bad back but then I was in my early 20s and hadnt done 100 hour weeks for a couple of decades at that point.

I have 2 20" displays for MC, ~30" from my eyes. The top of the
monitors is at eye level. If I had them closer I think I would be
turning my head to much. The monitor for my wave form monitor is to the
left of my MC monitors and turned to face me. To the left of that is my
grading monitor. I have a 46" consumer TV directly behind and above my
MC monitors but I rarely turn it on. It would be wonderful to have a
similar sized grading monitor in that position. --J.B.
