Sadly, no - looks like the colours distinguish masterclips from group clips from sequences, etc. I agree it would be nice to see the user-assigned colours. It looks like this feature also adds icons to the clip names in frame view, so the colours are kind of redundant and could be potentially liberated for user colours.
Cheers,

Would those colored outlines correspond to clip color? The way the clip icons pre. V6 had the clip color was helpful in script view. Do these colored outlines also display around the clip frames in script view? That would be helpful.

Except for licensing, the only change I saw in beta was colored outlines around the clips in the bin in frame view. I might have missed other featurettes.

That's it. Nothing new but it is the basis for their new business model. As I understand it, upgrades and so on appear as part of your subscription (if that's the way you go) rather than paid for if/when you choose to upgrade (and I think that the future for those of us with fully paid-for software will be different).

From my understanding (based on posts in the Avid Community Forums) - MC8 is the same as MC7, but can be purchased outright or subscribed to on a monthly/yearly basis. So the options to access the software have changed - the software itself hasn't yet. I've read that the new features will be in a future release (8.1 maybe?). Hopefully they can start teasing those soon, now that MC8 is in the wild.
