Do be honest, with the very informal and unscientific polls we have done with past students, a small percentage have but it sur e isn't enough for us to consider renewing support of MC. We have about 40 license that haven't been updated in quite a few years. We took it out of our software build about 4-5 yard ago.
Again with our informal polls, more and more are telling us they are using FCPX with CS a close second. I'm guessing here, but maybe 10-20 percent have used MC after graduation. I think CS is popular because they get it for free while they are at school. Even after school, their discount to buy CS is an appealing deal with all the software they get.

Do the students then leave and have to learn Avid to work in the real world? Or are they all working professionally on FCPX? Or do they get jobs that don't include editing?

Same here, Roger. And they all (200) have FCPX and a few Premiere. Not one has Media Composer. Granted, we are not a film/journalism school, but a graduate advertising program. But still. Not one. How does Avid get back into the conversation with these folks and schools like ours that are doing visual projects every day, usually more complex than the average 1:15 minute news story?
