Re: [Avid-L2] Script Sync/Phrase Find in MultiGroup and Shared Environment?

You can definitely use ScriptSync with groups (multicam)... I'm not sure you'd want to use it with a multigroup, though that's probably fine.

There's no way to direct PhraseFind to any specific type of clip. That was exactly my FR a few weeks ago. I want to be able to have it ONLY deliver a specific type of clip. For example if you have AMA'd a bunch of stuff and then transcoded it AND you have a Canon 5D shooting second camera, the PhraseFInd will deliver a result of ALL of those things. Let's say there's only a single place where someone says "OkiDog" but you have the scenario I just described. It will deliver three choices, the AMA clip, the 5D clip and the transcoded clip (and if you transcoded the 5D it would give you the transcoded 5D clip too).

If you want, I can experiment with a grouped clip, but I'm pretty sure that if you grouped the transcoded main cam with the transcoded 5D, you'd then get a FIFTH choices, which would be the grouped clip.... And god forbid you were doing double system sound, you'd also get the plain audio clip.

I've used script sync a few time when I had transcripts and it's a nice tool.  The way script sync makes it's script bin I can easily see that would work in a shared environment but how does phrase find work in a shared environment?  It's part of the search database folder which lives in the project as far as I know.  My limited understanding from posts here is that the search data/phrase find data is somehow local to the work station.  I assume this means that each bay creates their own search database and phrasefind database or are they one and the same.

How does script sync work in a multigroup project?  Do you drop the multigroup into the script and it will script sync search just like a single clip.  Is there a way to direct phrase find searches to multigroups?  TIA
