I add to this the mixer window in the new versions starting with 6.0 no more option to hide the sliders... Weird

Your points are valid - I get it, but it's actually something I hardly ever look at. I just immediately go to the 'open folder' button, and I'm off. Find my project folder, click OK, and I'm in. No hassles with the projects list.

Yes too much time on your hands but not bad suggestions. I'd much rather they bring back my split to reference than the project window but I'm not holding my breath on that.
