Never mind. I figured out that this is a PATCH, not a regular installation. Although for Macintosh, it IS a full installer, I was looking in the wrong place for it. The correct installer is located in the Avid PATCH download page. Leave it to Avid to make this more confusing than it needs to be. Why not put patches and regular installers on the same page?
Of course, I also don't need this patch until I upgrade my MacBookPro (8,2) to Mavericks, but that's a different issue.
