With what standalone BD-R recorders go for, stick with export/encode/burn. Compressor will do the admirable one-off, and since that can chunk away in the background while you do other stuff, it's not a terrible waste of time. More than that, Encore is serviceable for your basic menued disc.

I'm trying to get out of DVD previews as most theaters around here can now show Blu Rays. I first thought about getting a burner for the Mac Pro tower, but then realized that between exporting / converting / burning, it's going to be half a day wasted when I could just pop in a blank disc in a recorder hooked to the HDMI output of my Matrox and record it live, in real time. It's for previews, so I can get away with a couple of dropped frames along the way.
Does that sound like a good idea to you? And if yes, any recommendation for a decent Blu Ray deck that would do a good job? Or should I stick to export/compress/burn?Thanks, Pierre
