Re: [Avid-L2] Re: Avid's biggest challenges

It'll never happen with the suits currently residing in Burlington.

I know that snippet as a fact.

My point wasn't that these solutions aren't available.  Clearly they are.

My point was that Avid possibly does not have the resources to address these shortcomings internally.  And if so, partnering with 3rd party companies to provide "Lite" versions of their software, that would replace current antiquated MC modules, and which would be baked-into the core application, might offer a solution to 10+ years of feature stagnation -- and an increasing lack of competitiveness in the market.

Of course, there would have to be a value proposition for those 3rd party companies.  And my little self-described pipe dream proposes that those 3rd party companies would enjoy a much higher conversion ratio, by a much greater number of users. from the baked-in "Lite" version of their software -- to an optional "Full" version that would also function as a baked-in module.

In other words, with possibly limited resources, maybe Avid should address their core antediluvian architecture -- instead of trying to develop technology in-house that can't possibly compete with the likes of Eyeon, Filmlight and NewBlue.
