For awhile, in the early days of open I/O, you would lose video sync if you played an audio only clip in the source monitor...and you could not engage caps lock audio scrub on an audio only clip without crashing.

I seem to recall that on occasion Avid also had a bug that required a video input even if you were only trying to capture audio. This was around that edit suite with protools light era that had a the audio board.
