I'm not sure why 3 editors seems odd around here. Plenty of films (including several Oscar winners) have had 2 editors. Most reality TV shows are touched by multiple editors in the course of getting the show to air. The last series I worked on in a Unity environment had 4 editors all the time, each swapping off pieces and parts of every episode.
