I'll dig a bit more later today, but the bins open just fine in 5.5.3.7

hmmmm sounds like either a corrupt bin or clips.  Are you able to open from the attic?  might have to create a new project and bring the bins in and figure out what is causing this.  besides the segmentation fault soes the error have any more scoop in it?
