I can just see how this came about in a meeting:
Hernandez: "We're not seen as the leaders of the industry anymore. What can we do"
PR: "How about we get a bunch of suits from the broadcast world and call them a leadership council?"
Hernandez: "Brilliant. Can we attach revenue to it? It's been a bad couple years and anything will help."
PR: "Um, sure. We'll pretend that this will be an exclusive club that gets to listen to these suits enlighten the world to their visions of the future. Some poor suckers will surely pay for that."
Hernandez: "Brilliant. Now get to work on what their vision of the future is. And don't forget: revenue!"
