Re: [Avid-L2] Re: QT Ref Export Errors with mixed frame rate and ama?

If an AMA linked clip in sequence has gone offline, it will show up red just like any other offline clip. You must relink to AMA the original clip in bin. Sometimes it's as easy as just opening the bin. Other times, it must be right-click/RElink to AMA Files. If you see the media, but the clip shows as offline, well that's just MC being MC, knowing where to find media to play the clip, but not knowing it's actually online. You'll still get the error message about clips being offline, and if you relink them in the bin, the red will go away.

If I'm doing QT Ref export from a sequence where I know AMA has been used, I transcode the sequence (to convert both AMA video and associated audio) and then I usually drop a safe color and mix that down. A video mixdown for a QT Ref export is usually a must. Audio mixdowns are also a must if there is multiple bit rate / sample rate stuff happening, because if there is, you will get twice or three times as many audio tracks in the ref export as what is in the sequence (each track in the ref export can only contain one bit rate and sample rate).

I got to thinking. If a clip was ama'd and transcoded to DNX220 for my online sequence. If I have the graphics reel up that has the original .mov that was ama'd might Avid revert to an ama link for that clip. I have repeatedly relinked my sequence to my dedicated avid media drives so I would think the sequence would not regress to an ama link to a clip that had been transcoded but I seem to be chasing ama ghosts. BOOOOOO I'm the ghost of ama here to mess with you!!!! Very scary.

> clip.  I also get prompted that there is offline media in the sequence when I digital cut but as far as I can tell there is nothing offline.  Perhaps Avid sees the whacky clips that have media but show red offline color as still offline under the hood.  I wonder if that might also make avid think the clips are ama media when in fact they are transcoded media.
