For those of us that haven't been paying close attention, what have early adopters found as Mavericks "gotchas"?

Great News - Mavericks support is here!

Avid Media Composer v7.0.3 (Mac and PC) and NewsCutter 11.0.3(PC) releases will launch publicly on the Download Center today, Monday, December 22, 2013 at 11:00 am ET.

Who is Eligible:

Customers running v7.0.x/v11.0.x are eligible to download and install these maintenance updates.

ReadMe:

The new and updated ReadMe is attached with support for both 10.9 and 10.9.1.  The v7.0.3/v11.0.3 ReadMe will be posted to the Knowledge Base on the 7.x/11.x documentation page.

Important v7.0.3/v11.0.3 changes and fixes:

The v7.0.3/v11.0.3 maintenance releases have both changes and fixes.  All customers should also be encouraged to download and scan the ReadMe so they know what is changed and fixed.

Where to Download:

The v7.0.3/v11.0.3 releases are located on the Download Center (login and password required). Customers MUST login to their Master Account in order to access the Download Center and the Avid software.

Installation Information:

  • (Macintosh) This is a full version of the editing application.
  • (Windows ) There is both a full version of the editing application installer and an update version of the installer. If you are upgrading from v7.0.2 or v11.0.2 of the editing application, you can use the update installer, otherwise, use the full installer.
  • (Macintosh and Windows) You should uninstall the previous build from your system before you install Media Composer v7.0.3 or NewsCutter v11.0.3.
  • (Macintosh Only) Media Composer v7.0.3 is the first release of the editing application supporting Mac OS v10.9 Mavericks. If you had upgraded your system to Mac OS v10.9  on an editing version prior to v7.0.3, the uninstaller for that previous editing application will NOT uninstall that version of the editing application successfully.  To resolve this, use the uninstaller included in your v7.0.3 editor download to uninstall the previous version of the editing application.

You can reference page 22 of the ReadMe for the location of the Uninstall Media Composer.app

Windows Download Note:

To avoid "File Path too long" or a "File cannot be copied" warning while unzipping the downloaded installer, try placing the installer .zip on the root level of your C:\ drive and unzip it from that location.
