bah humbug.
I will be 58 years old in a few weeks. I was 194 pounds about 3 – 4 months ago. I started an aggressive "Atkins""style diet (at my Dr.'s office), and now, just a few months later,
I am at 166 pounds (my goal weight is 160, and I am 5'10" tall).

So what does this mean, in relation to FCP-L, and what we do for a living. STOP YOUR DAMN WHINING. Stop being a pussy. If you are a fat ass (like I was) – LOSE SOME WEIGHT.
It's not hard. And if you are an AVID only editor (or FCP 7 only editor) STOP YOUR DAMN WHINING and learn BOTH Adobe Premiere and FCP-X.

So if you KEEP LEARNING and WATCH YOUR WEIGHT, then you will never be a useless fat old man, who no one pays attention to.

Over the years, you have read my complaints about those stations and cable companies that distort standard definition 4:3 programming to fit high definition sets. I have bemoaned the fact that my grandchildren and, as yet unborn, descendants will lose the ability to discriminate between a true circle and an ovoid.

This morning I had an epiphany.

With the almost-daily headlines in the U.S. about the obesity epidemic, perhaps this is designed to help us feel better about ourselves. If so many of the "beautiful people" that we watch on television look short and fat, we won't be as appalled when seeing ourselves in the mirror.

It must be a plot.

Clearly, the way to combat this is to start contacting the diet-food lobby, Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, Lean Cuisine, every company that makes a non-caloric beverage and the like with my theory. If we all become comfortable looking like Jabba the Hutt, what happens to their business models? It would seem to be in their best interests to avoid advertising on those programs that are broadcast in the wrong aspect ratio.

I'm right! Right?

Or was it that last glass of spiked eggnog at the Christmas party?
