That and the fact that there are LOTS of people that simply don't understand the Avid in the professional world.
I got into an argument with someone last year that SWORE UP AND DOWN that Avatar was cut on Premiere.
Now, if you look on the Adobe website, there is a mention that Adobe products, including Premiere were used in the making of Avatar. So Adobe promotes their product this way, even though it wasn't the one handling the main editing. I am stunned by the number of "professional journalists" in the mass market that discuss the "main" NLEs and they NEVER mention Avid. And I'm not talking about NLEs for home use. I'm just saying I've seen stories about the MAJOR players in NLE and sometime Avid gets left out when it's the MAIN NLE for professional major media use: TV and film.
I agree that Avid is not the best tool for all kinds of editing. I think effects are weak. I think color correction is weak. Sadly, finishing is getting weaker and weaker as Avid can only do HD and not 2K and 4K. I have to move a trailer I cut last summer to Premiere so I can get it to 2K. I have to eyematch it all back in, but I was glad I got to do the off-line on Avid.
I got a request to cut a feature using Premiere... It may still happen but I don't want to be like Murch, where I'm out on the bleeding edge with no net. Of course I suggested Avid, but Premiere certainly has many strengths and it's getting stronger all the time. I'm guessing that the Cohen brothers will be the first people to cut a feature on it... if they aren't already.

I think the the best reason to promote how much of the high end work is edited on a particular platform is to encourage folks who want to enter this world that they should invest time in learning that platform. Then it becomes self perpetuating.
Of course this has nothing to do with which tool is best for the job, just marketing as it relates to business.
