They really air on plasmas. The CRT is no longer relevant.

I tried to call the station but it's labor day. I would assume this is more a Direct TV issue. My understanding is that most sat and cable providers just take the stations HD feed and do their own downconvert in house with boxes that have virtually no controls. I assume the boxes read the AFD and downconvert accordingly. I recall Mr. Dennis writing that the TDs at NBC can control the AFD setting from the switcher or control room. So I figure something has changed at Direct TV and I googled and read the our NBC affiliate had anamorphic problems on Verizon cable newer digital SD boxes. Anybody got an idea where the change might have occured?

You don't think my old CRT just got jealous and wants to show what it can do too before it's decommissioned? Actually I talked my wife to keeping our Sony CRT and adding the Panny Plasma so I can still see how things look on the older set when I want to check how things really air.
