I see EditShare has launched a new product - the EditShare Ultra - a 4-disk version of their shared-storage system for under $10k
I'm choosing to believe I am responsible :) I've had the opportunity to talk to a number of the management staff at EditShare in the past (we're a fairly high profile user and I presented on the EditShare booth at NAB) - I've frequently mentioned how poorly served we used to feel when I worked at a small facility a few years ago.
We had two or three Avid workstations at any time, mostly working indvidually, but occasionally needing to collaborate. There were no cost-effective solutions at the time, and for a small shop there still doesn't seem to have been for ages. A $10k solution back then would have been pricey still, but actually justifiable in a way that nothing was at the time.
I've been really impresed with EditShare in the 2-and-a-bit years I've been using it (the reality of it surpassed my expectations - I found it better than Unity Lanshare systems I'd been using)...
Are there any other Avid-aware storage solutions on the market and the $10k or under price? It can be so hard to figure out what things actually cost these days.
(I don't have any ongoing relationship with EditShare - I just like what they make, and use their stuff)
