Yes, still sadly true. I've been in contact several times w/ Marianna about
this, as I need my SYM 5.5.3.7! It has prevented me from upgrading to v7,
and hopefully Marianna is making the need for the backwards compatibility
we've always enjoyed to the engineers. Might not hurt if others write her
too to give a little boost to fixing this.
