Is there a way to tell if a .mov clip was ama linked and transcode or traditionally imported from just the clip. I have a clip that I can highlight and open the batch import dialogue box, does that indicate it was a traditional import? This 8 plus minute .mov that has weird horizontal banding. It looks kinda like the old warp split effect of an A-53. The clip does not look like bad field order but more like the aforementioned split effect. The AE just brought me the original file and it turns out this is an HD file. Now I'm thinking that they imported with the bottom choice of fit to raster. I base this on the fact that the original clip appears letterboxed. With this in mind I'm thinking this looks a lot like the artifacting when Avid tries to stretch DV vertically 6 lines to fill the 720x486. I wouldn't think that stretching would occur with the bottom fit to raster selection but am I wrong. And of course this is a long clip that
takes 20 minutes to traditionally import. Oh well time to bite the bullet and reimport and see what happens if I override the import settings. Man I love file based soooooo much.
