By overcut do you mean manually re-editing each shot in? I've had success with:
1) AMA link to Hi-rez
2) Transcode to lo-rez (maybe SD)
3) Edit
4) Decompose the edit
5) Force a relink to the original AMA-linked Hi-rez
6) Finish
