I posted before about some of the issues I had installing software directly off a DVD using an Ext. DVD drive on my older iMac which is only USB 1. I found creating a disk image on the desktop solved those issues and I figured the USB 1 choke hold on the Ext. DVD drive was probably the cause. Today on the brand new USB3 iMac I had issues trying to install Filemaker 10 from the same Ext DVD drive. Once again making a disk image on the desktop solved the problem. I had just used this DVD successfully to install Filemaker 10 on my MacPro which has an internal DVD drive. Anybody else see these kind of issues with Ext. DVD drives over USB. The unit I got was from OWC and ran about $50.00. I'm beginning to wonder if the Apple superdrive Ext. DVD would work better. I've also had problems burning DVDs to this ext DVD drive on the older iMac and now I'm beginning to suspect I will have similar problems on the new iMac. TIA for any suggestions.
