Dave
Have you actually DONE this and SOLVED the issue described here with one
of the devices you recommend?
We have been around the houses for a couple of laps on this and have
concluded that Avid is listening to a low level OS event and it is not
EDID related. It is more connected with pin 16 (hot plug detect) in the
DVI connection which is triggering a basic error message in the Media
Composer software.
What is infuriating about this unhelpful little message in Media
Composer is that it tells you the resolution has changed even when it
hasn't. you can have the exact same monitor and hardware on both
computers on the KVM and you will *still* get the message when you
switch from one identical monitor to another identical one set to the
same resolution.
I would be interested to know if anyone has found a fix. We are
currently focussing on pin 16 to prevent the PC getting a hotplug
message but other solutions would be received with interest.

That will just cause you more trouble. You need to get an EDID Detective
from Gefen (or my friends at Apantac make one) that will make the
computer
think it is always looking at the same monitor. It looks like a little
adapter - you just let it see the monitor's EDID and then put it as the
first thing on the back of the CPU. They are a life-saver.

I'm trying to test a couple of system using a Gefen 4 x2 KVM switch. For
some reason when I switch from the Composer CPU to a mac running logic.
Composer pop up the error saying "you must restart the application after
changing the resolution" I've tried playing with the Nvidia control
panel
but I can find anything that will fix my problem. Help please.
