They do work. I just test two of them and it works. I'm using the DVI Detective going for $79.99

Isn't there a slang term for these devices. "Monitor Spoofer" comes to mind
but I'm not sure that's it. I remember a thread a while back that talked
about using them with switches and perhaps Avocent setups but I can't
remember the exact turn of phrase.
