Yes I agree, I often do projects with media from all over, different cameras
etc. Also an addition, transcode to QT supported codecs, XDCam etc does not
have a non purchase codec unless you have FCP installed and then Mac only.
So a transcode all NON DNxHD codecs to DNxHD would be good as well.

Subject: [Avid-L2] FR: Transcode Option - Only transcode non-native
clips...
I posted this on the forums but I'll also post it here because I REALLY feel
strongly about it:
Scenario:
Your sequence contains a mixture of DNxHD185X, AVCIntra and XDCAM HD. All
native codecs. You also have some gopro and 5D footage linked via AMA cut
in to your sequence.
You want to play out to tape or consolidate your sequence.
Avid doesn't want to do these things because the sequence contains
unsupported media.
If I try and transcode my sequence to, say, DNX185X, then ALL of the other
native media which is not DNX also gets transcoded. Waste of time.
Current Solution:
Identify all AMA clips, sub clip them in to a bin, transcode, drop them back
in to your sequence.
Better Solution:
In the consolidate/transcode dialog offer a check box along the lines of:
"Transcode only non-native media".
BAM! - loads of cocking about averted.
If there is a way to do this then someone please let me know. If there
isn't then I REALLY think this should be implemented, especially seeing as
there are a growing amount of native codecs within Avid.
Cheers,
Andi
