I agree 100% on missing the ability to color the Project Window. I used to make mine off-white/tan-ish (easy on the eyes and differentiated it from bins, as you point out) . . .
OK... I see your Project Window color, and I raise you the background color of the Timeline Window (!!!).
I really miss being able to make my Timeline Window background black; it's so much easier on my eyes.
And don't get me started on all the other individual customizability of interface elements that was lost . . .
(I'm sure a search of the L2 archives would reveal that kvetching on several occasions).
