[Avid-L2] Re: Attic Weirdness- Is it a bad Gotcha?

Thanks Steve. I think maybe the name might have something to do with it so I have changed the name to _____Current Sequence.

But why only that bin and why does it stop saving all of a sudden? BTW, it's a big ongoing project and I had reached number 999 in the attic numbering and then it stopped but after three weeks of editing with NO saved bins evidently then it reset to 001 and then stayed there. Number 001 was saved when I rebooted the computer.

Also there's no one else on the machine. Two years ago I decided to get out of the TV rat race and into feature docs and have been editing at home here in the mountains ever since, so there are no other editors on the machine.

I don't quite follow what you mean by changing the bin setting in the site settings. Could it be that I have two big projects (and a couple of small ones) using the same bin name?

My client says mercury is in retrograde. Maybe that's it.

For example, you said that the problem bin is "___LATEST CUT.avb" It would be pretty common to have that exact same bin name in dozens of projects. I usually have a bin called "Current Sequence" in every bin. I'd be shocked if this was the problem because it would be a very prevalent problem for a lot of people that have pretty standard workflows.

That means that if a new user goes on and has some tiny number of saved bins, every time they log on, they're going to wipe out a large number of bins with their user setting. I always make that setting a SITE setting so that this doesn't happen on my machines. (It's been a while since I've tested this behavior, but I'm pretty sure it still exists.)
