[Avid-L2] Attic Weirdness- Is it a bad Gotcha?

Had an worrisome incident last night while working late. I had what John Moore would call a bone-head moment and deleted my current sequence from what I call the "latest cut" bin. Not sure exactly how I did it, just that I was staring at a beach ball that would stop long enough for me to do a save all from the file menu and then shut down Symphony.

I thought no big deal I'll just go to the attic and retrieve a backup and I've only lost a few minutes. Well, I go to the attic and look and there are backup files. However all but the single most recent which was two minutes old (and of course did NOT have a sequence in it) were almost a month old. Now I have been working on this project almost every day for the last ten days. There was a gap of about two weeks earlier when I didn't work on this project. Also ALL THE OTHER BINS IN THE PROJECT WERE OK and had Avid attic backups. Only the "Latest Cut" bin was affected. Luckily I'm fanatical about duplicating the sequence and backing up the project folder manually at least twice a day, especially on a huge project (this is a feature doc) and I back it up locally on a separate hard drive and I also back it up to Dropbox.

So I opened up the most recent manual backup that I did (about three hours before) and all was fine. I lost a couple of hours but not three months of work. I set up a new bin called "Current Cut" and moved the sequence into it and it has been updating in the attic ever since.

WTF would cause this? It's not a good feeling when it happens.

I also run Time Machine manually once a day. In the Time Machine preferences there is a check box in the "options" window that says"Lock Documents after last edit" that has a pulldown menu where you can add a duration and I had set it to two weeks. Would this have something to do with it? It's really weird because none of the other bins were affected.

From now in I'm going periodically check to make sure the Attic is updating and I have unchecked the "Lock Documents" box in the time machine preferences.

Anybody else had anything like this happen?

OS 10.7.0.3, 32gig ram
Symphony 6.0.1.1.26625
