Dear L2,
here is my scenario:
I am about to cut a half hour documentary from about 30 hours of AVCHD footage, shot on Sony FS100. I need to import into MC 5.5.3 but I am not sure exactly what codec is acceptable for a master on PAL-DVCAM and internet. I did a few tests and I can see the difference in the detail between low-to-high data rate codecs, but will this matter in the down-convert? My project will be down-converted for broadcast in SD.
Since drive space is an issue for me can I:
-import at DNxHD 36 or Apple ProRes Proxy via FCP and still be fine for the final PAL master? The internet file will be compressed H.264 so I reason the lossy/offline codecs here are fine?
-or must I import at a higher data rate codec for some reasons of major consequence?
-is Clipwrap ok for the conversion here? I believe MC 5.5 can't do AMA then transcode, only import.
Thanks.
