Nice idea, but nope.
I still checked Installed Updates, but I know it isn't because I only got
around to installing MC6.5 and Symphony 6.5 today, then after checking that
they both launched (and restarting the computer whenever I was asked to) I
tried to apply the patches. Same error on both.
Just for giggles, I tried running the patch again. Same result:
Error 1328. Error applying patch file to file
C:\Config.Msi\PTC89.tmp. It has probably been updated by another means, and
can no longer
be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch
vendor.
Thinking about it, this is a really odd error... the entire Config.Msi
folder and its contents are created by the patch installer and deleted when
it exits, so it appears to be creating its own tmp file which it then
complains it can't update.

Have you checked to see if the patch is actually installed? go to the
control panel remove applications and look under the installed updates
section.
