James,
I see a few others have responded but I wanted to chime in too.... you know "direct from the horses mouth". :)
First, thanks for posting as there are Moderators who are suppose to be checking the Xpro and Xdv forums even though they are archived. If you could email me off the L2 at marianna.montague@avid.com with your community name, I can check your post. Mainly to see when it was uploaded and if it sat for a while. If so, then I will " ping" those moderators who should be watching theses forums so the next james isnt stuck.
The XDV and Xpro app's of old are recommended for use on XP and SP2. Do a get info on your editing app and see what version you have. Ping me and I can flip you the readme so you know what you need to use.
To be honest - both Roger and jeff are spot on in that you should consider upgrading the system to MC. There is an upgrade path which is cheaper than a new MC seat and you would then be current and able to utilize all the new features and formats.
if you are looking to go Win 7 then MC 5 is the base version to use - we are currently shipping 6.5.1
Hope that helps and feel free to email me if you need more deets.

I'm not sure if that's the last version I have download rights to, or simply the last one I installed, how do I check?

I'm still on XP SP2. Would like to be able to upgrade to SP3 or Win 7, but have no idea about compatibility of QT or a myriad other factors now.
