[Avid-L2] QT .mov Avid 1:1x codec plays black until scrubbed?

 

I'm delivering QT .movs to a network in Avid 1:1x SD  why there is an x is beyond me.  I work SD 1:1 8 bit, export a QT ref and use QT Pro to make a self contained .mov.  Everything works but when I first open up the self contained .mov it is black until I scrub the movie a bit then the picture appears.  This happens on several mac computers.  I haven't had any QC issues with the files but I'm curious why QT 7 and also QT X will not show the video until I scrub around.  The audio is there just black in the viewer until a quick scrub around.  WTF?  In the info box it knows it's the Avid codec even when it's showing black.  Just seems to be the nature of the beast but I don't get why.
