I have a strange bin-compatibility problem.
We used a Symphony 6.0 Mac system to log bins of P2 footage. The media was
on a portable hard drive when it was logged. When I open the bins in Media
Composer 5. on a PC, there is no time code. The column is there in the bin,
but it is blank. The media is on a hard drive attached to the edit system
and is identical in all other ways. Same problem even if I link to the
media on the portable drive.
After testing, it seems that any time the Mac Symphony touches the clips
and then passes them to the Media Composer, the time code goes away.
The upshot is that before I noticed this, we transcoded some of the P2
media to DV 25 for editing, and the DV clips have no time code. I cannot
add or modify time code to the DV media.
Has anyone ever seen this? Thanks.
