[Avid-L2] do color borders work in MC?

 

Hi
I never use these so I could be missing something or it could be a bug everyone knows about. Is there a way to get the color you want on a border using resize or pip in MC 5.5.3, Mac OSX 10.6.8?

PIP wont give me any color, just doesnt work using 3D and any of the bevels or 3D border.
Resize just kind of stays (in my case) pink as I set color well to dark red, click and it goes pink. Tried sliders, etc and still not responsive. Has this always been the case?

As I say, I don't use these but client wants a border. Eyedropper does not seem to work either for selecting a color on the screen.
