[Avid-L2] Softer graphics imported still vs. QuickTime

Is there any reason why an imported graphic file (.TGA, .TIFF, etc) should
look slightly softer than the same graphic imported as a QuickTime ?

I've tried all field order settings and the result is always the same.
It's really obvious if you make alternating edits between the imported
still and the imported QuickTime of the same graphic.

This is in a 1080i 59.94 project, but I have run tests in many formats.
Tested on Avid MC 5.03 and 6.03. QuickTime file is Avid DNX HD with
alpha. The still file is a TGA, but have also tried various formats. The
Quicktimes looks great.

I might also note that the same files are indistinguishable in Premiere Pro
6, FCP 7 and FCP X. The softening one occurs on the still when imported
into Avid.
