Love the Ravel. Nicely directed.
I haven't watched an orchestra on video in a while. I'm accustomed to PBS
"Live from Lincoln Center" and similar efforts. The addition of the GoPros
is a nice touch but takes some getting used to. It's too bad they have to
be locked down. Also I have to admit I started looking for them in wider
shots.
It's an interesting creative perspective. The GoPros place the viewer right
in the middle of the orchestra, and that's cool, but it does seem to call
attention more to the fact that there's a camera there and we can see
things in a way we've never seen them before. The traditional long-lens,
more distant perspectives we've had in the past are gentler to the viewer.
I can't decide how much I like it, but then again, I'm probably just
accustomed to "the way we've always done it."
