By default the setting in QT for H.264 creation is set to multi pass.
Change it to single pass.
If you need the benefits of multi pass (better quality at the same or lower
data rate) use an external application like Squeeze or Episode that is
faster and more efficient than Quicktime, thus Avid H.264 Export.
