Marcel,
When you say "Transcoding is quick and clean" how quick do you mean? I just tried doing this with 3 1/2 hours of R3D footage on a 2.4GHz Mac 12 core, running Symphony 6 on Lion 10.7.4 and it took all night to transcode to DNxHD36.
That doesn't seem "quick" to me. Am I just expecting too much?
The advertized AMA functionality was that you could work with the files natively in Symphony, but I'm rapidly finding out that that is not true, at least for the software only version.
Anyone else trying this workflow? Anyone have suggestions for best practices?
I'd love to hear any advice.
Thanks.
