[Avid-L2] Re: DS11

Not sure in the pricing of DS (which IMO at 10 grand is too high for the reality of today's market), but I have heard from some that Smoke 2013 is pretty much a failure. Is there room for an edit system these days that only does finishing? Seems like everything now has to do everything. Opportunity for Avid? Of course one would never expect Avid marketing to take advantage of any situation.

Smoke 2013 is more user-friendly than previous versions, but the current beta isn't yet the final release version and will still have bugs at this point. Even in its final release form, it isn't intended to be a do-everything editor. And Autodesk has never marketed it as such. IMHO, those folks turning to it as a replacement for FCP7 are either clueless or haven't been paying attention.
