What follows is a very slightly spammy self promoting email, but hopefully
it's of genuine interest..
I've created some software designed to create EDLs from live vision
switching decisions. It arose out of the specific needs of a friend who is
shooting a reality show in Singapore, but is developing into a minor
commercial product that I'm planning to start selling soon.
The software has been designed to interact with Blackmagic Design's
affordable ATEM vision switchers. There are some details here:

At this stage it's only 25fps PAL because the whole drop-frame timecode
thing really hurts my brain, but I am hoping to get NTSC timecode support
in there soon.
I'd be interested to hear any feedback you may have. I'll be offering a
public demo version to download soon.
