Have you tried just moving the offending plug ins out of the AVX folder?

Subject: [Avid-L2] MC 5.0.3 on Mac OS 10.6.8
Hello all,
I have been asked to help trouble-shoot a system that is on Mac OS 10.6.8
and on an Intel Dual Quadcore Xeon machine. The installed Avid version is
5.0.3 with a dongle. When I try to launch the app, it will get to the AVX2
part of the splash screen, and then it will crash.
The crash logs talk about AVX2 and about borisfx.avx.BCC_TKK, for what
that's worth.
I have tried trashing the MC State out of the app folder as well as moving
any AVX effects (therewere 4 of them ) out of the AVX subfolder in
supporting files in the app folder, as well as deleting the msm files - to
no avail.
Any thoughts on what I could try to rectify this?
Also, my guy has the install disks for MC 4.0.2, and cannot remember where
and how he got the 5.0.3 installer (but his dongle seems to work with v 5).
He did not get any Avid support contract. Where could we get the 5.0.3
installer, or possibly the 5.0.4 installer?
Thanks for any help,
Rainer
