[Avid-L2] Media Composer and Red R3D system

 

Hi all,

I still at this point have not had much experience with Media Composer and R3d files. I have a client who needs to put together a system that will be used for to cut Red footage that will be mixed with other typical sources. He wants to make sure the system can handle that footage properly.

I was looking into one of the new 6 cores and upgrading his system to MC 6. He does not want the ability to use a client monitor so I'm looking to keep this software only. He's hoping that he can work with AMA and then transcode to DNXhd.

What is the right system for this. Can this be done with out issues on the software only software? (I'm assuming it can just want to confirm)
Storage for him would be standard eSata unless there is a reason not to.
